6.5 hp, 98.2 cu. in. horizontal single-cylinder engine,  two-speed planetary transmission, solid front axle with semi-elliptic  leaf springs, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs and single  chain drive, and dual differential-mounted brakes.

A two-time London-to-Brighton veteran, this 1903 Cadillac was restored  many years ago and has been well maintained ever since. Outfitted for  touring, it has a new, high-compression aluminum piston, which raises  the compression ratio to 4.5:1. It thus starts better and develops more  power for long-distance running. The crankshaft is also new. A lighter  balanced flywheel was installed, machined on the back side and fitted  with a ring gear to engage an electric starter, for convenient operation  in today’s traffic. The car also has a new radiator, new wheels, new  hubcaps and a new wood body.

Painted in correct red with black fenders, this Cadillac Rear-Entrance  Tonneau is fully equipped with wicker baskets, an umbrella holder, bulb  horn, carriage bell and buggy top. It has a brass central headlamp and  side-lamps; small electric lights were fitted some years ago for safer  operation, particularly during the London-to-Brighton Run, in which the  car participated in 1977 and 1998, earning the coveted medal for  “Punctual Arrival at Brighton.” For its 1977 run, the car was flown over  on the same 747 as the Tallman family, and upon its return it was  displayed in Mr. Tallman’s dealership. 


The car has been dated as 1903 by the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain  and reportedly runs and drives well, having been used extensively and  enthusiastically by Mr. Tallman. On speed alone, he claims to have never  been challenged! The car is perfect for One- and Two-Cylinder Tours,  and its VCC credentials maintain eligibility for future Brighton Runs.
