For Cadillac, the Series 62 was a highly successful model during the immediate post-war period. Its styling was ultra-modern for its time and was largely unchanged from the prewar 1942 models, with very clean lines and a strong Cadillac identity. Its interior was luxurious, offering the latest passenger amenities, as well as luxurious broadcloth or leather upholstery. Its pricing was considered quite reasonable, and as a result, the Series 62 was Cadillac’s best-selling model. 

For 1946, the grille and front parking lamps were somewhat altered, small dashboard details were modified, and wrap-around bumpers were added. While Cadillac resumed automobile production soon after V-E Day, it nonetheless took several months to shift production from the war effort. As a result, Cadillac production amounted to 28,144 units in 1946, with the Series 62 as the division’s single biggest seller. Cadillac fever had hit America, and by 1947, some 96,000 orders remained unfilled, an astounding statement of the popularity of these fine automobiles. The public's perception of Cadillac was one of quality, luxury, elegance, and the Series 62 was a crucial part of Cadillac’s growing success. 

The 1946 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe offered here is an unrestored, mostly original car with a single repaint in a handsome light blue, complemented by a power-operated tan convertible top, attractive brightwork, and blue painted steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, trim rings, and period correct wide whitewall tires. The interior is very attractive as well, with blue leather upholstery and blue carpeting, as well as a handsome blue painted dash and three-spoke steering wheel. Passenger amenities include power windows, a power front seat and a heater, as well as a Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, and a pushbutton-operated AM radio.
